What is the warranty on my security system?
The security equipment including the main control panel and all devices carry a one year warranty for both parts and labor. The warranty period begins on the date of installation. The warranty does not cover failures due to misuse, abuse, lightening, or other parameters beyond SCI Security’s control.
What are the normal service charges once my warranty has expired?
After the expiration of your one year warranty, service calls during normal business hours are billed at $75.00 which includes one hour of labor (after hour fee is $110.00). Additional labor is billed at $45.00 per hour. Any equipment needing replaced will be billed at normal retail rates. SCI Security offers Extended Warranty and Service Agreements. If you are interested in an Extended Warranty or Service Agreement, please contact SCI Security’s Service department.
My security system is beeping, and I don’t know what is wrong with it. What should I do?
By pushing the status button twice, the system will either speak or display the reason for the beeping system. To clear the issue from the system temporarily, press 1 and then enter your code (for Caretaker systems, put in your code first, then press 1). If you have experienced a power outage, you may have to repeat the steps to clear multiple times. If the system continues to beep and bring up the same trouble code after clearing, contact SCI Security to schedule service.
My phone is not working properly, what could be causing the issue?
If you have verified proper operation of your phone service through your provider, then there may be an issue with your security system. You can check this by unplugging the phone line (RJ31 jack) inside of your security system control panel. If your phone is working, the issue may be with the security system, and SCI Security should be contacted. If the phone is not working, then it is not the security system and most likely an issue with phone service. If you have changed service providers, then there may be an issue with compatibility. The security system is not set up to operate on certain systems such as Vonage and Magic Jack. SCI Security will have to be contacted to resolve the issue.
My phone keeps going out when I use the computer/security system, what is the issue?
If you have DSL, then your system will require a DSL filter. SCI Security sells and installs DSL filters as an addition to your security system.
