Check oil, filters, and spark plugs regularly, and run the generator at least once a month to keep it in working condition.
Store fuel in approved containers away from heat sources, and never refuel while the generator is running or hot.
Do not exceed the generator’s wattage capacity. Plug in essential devices first and distribute the load evenly.
Always operate outdoors, at least 20 feet away from windows, doors, and vents to prevent CO poisoning.
Regularly inspect and test by checking oil, coolant, and battery levels, and conduct monthly test runs to ensure functionality. Turn off appliances before shutting down to prevent surges, and store fuel safely – never refuel while the generator is running.
Never operate the generator in enclosed or semi-enclosed spaces (garage, basement, etc.) to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning. Don’t use more power than the generator can handle; share the load evenly.
