No. As long as our technician can safely access your meter, it will be exchanged. We’ll leave a door hanger to confirm installation. If the technician cannot access your meter, we will request that you schedule an appointment.
Yes. SCI REMC is replacing all current meters with upgraded meters. This upgrade is essential to providing faster response to outages, real-time reconnections and building a more robust electric system.
All SCI REMC members, both residential and commercial, will receive the meter upgrade.
This project will begin in late 2025 and take up to three years to complete as we replace all meters across our service area.
Yes. All upgraded meters are engineered and tested in a variety of conditions to ensure precise reporting of energy use. They meet strict accuracy guidelines set by the American National Standards Institute. SCI REMC also continuously monitors meter performance.
