Keeping you in the know with TextPower from SCI REMC

Report outages, request updates, and more!

We get it — the only thing more frustrating than power outages is wondering how long you’ll have to sit in the dark. In today’s world, outages can be more than a simple inconvenience.

Unfortunately, outages happen. When they do, you need to know how long you’ll be without power so you can make the necessary arrangements to keep your family safe.

That’s why South Central Indiana REMC has developed TextPower — a dynamic communication tool created to quickly and effectively communicate outage information with members via text message.

If you are not currently participating in TextPower, you can register by entering your number at https://www.sciremc.com/member-services/textpower.

Once you’re registered, you can text “OUTAGE” to 765-505-7005 to report an outage. Additionally, you can text "STATUS" to receive ETOR — estimated time of restoration — updates. It’s that simple!

A core tenet of the Seven Cooperative Principals to which SCI REMC adheres is Education, Training and Information. TextPower was designed to keep our members informed during outage events in the quickest, easiest and most effective way possible. If you have questions or concerns about TextPower, please refer to our FAQ.

Please note: If you have a medical condition that requires electrical equipment, always have a backup plan in place. This plan could include a portable generator, extra medical supplies, or moving to an alternate location until power is restored. If you plan to use a generator for backup power, read all safety information and instructions before use.
