SCI REMC works closely with South Central Community Action (or SCCAP) agencies, as well as township trustees to obtain assistance for our members who are having difficulties paying their electric bills. EAP is a low-income energy assistance program made available through the Indiana Division of Family and Children.
Resources to Help You With Energy Costs
South Central Indiana REMC is aware of the financial hardships many families are facing. There are several resources available to help you pay your energy bills.
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
LIHEAP is a federally-funded grant program that helps low-income households meet their immediate home energy needs
LIHEAP funds are distributed through local Community Action Agencies (CAA)
Winter Protection: Electric service will not be disconnected between December 1 and March 15 for residential members who are eligible for and have applied for LIHEAP.
Extreme Heat Protection: Electric service will not be disconnected on days when extreme heat is forecast (a heat index of 95°F or higher within the prior 48 hours) for residential members who are eligible for and have applied for LIHEAP during the current calendar year.
